John Chaplin has been active member of his community for many years. whether volunteering, or regularly attending the Township Board, Planning Commission, or ZBA meetings (often the only one in the audience) John was there to speak out for the interest of the residents of Washington and ensure that a voice from the public was heard. 

After foregoing college to start his first of several successful businesses John Chaplin returned to college and completed two bachelors degrees from the University of Phoenix in Business Management and Marketing, while continuing to run the HSI technology group.  

John has owned several small businesses in his lifetime. HSI technology group and HSI solutions were tech companies focused on business network solutions and digital content management. John currently runs Mt Vernon Homes, his real estate development company and continues to consult with companies in the quality and process improvement fields.

John is dedicated to giving back and serving his neighbors. He has been a very active and longtime member of Masonic organizations, is a past member of the Sterling chamber commerce St Baldrics volunteer, is an ordained wedding officiant and a member of the DTE community advisory board.
